Boom

What is Boom?

The boom is the movable arm on a hydrovac or vacuum truck that positions and supports the large vacuum hose over the dig site, letting operators reach into excavations and rotate the suction tube precisely.

The boom carries the vacuum tube from the debris body to the excavation, allowing the operator to swing, extend, and lower the suction hose without dragging it by hand. Boom reach, measured in feet, and rotation determine how far from the truck a crew can dig, which matters for road setups, deep holes, and hard-to-access sites.

Many booms are hydraulically controlled and paired with a telescoping vacuum tube for extra depth. Boom reach is a common spec expressed as a range. On Vac4Rent, submit a free request and rental companies can match boom reach to your access and depth requirements.
